My name is Katie.
And I am a rich lady.
As a child, my sisters and I spent many hours playing dress up with my grandmother's old hats, scarves and gloves. We were playing "Rich Ladies." Oh, the fancy lives we led while adorned with such exquisite accessories. Our lips were pursed, our pinkies curled, and even our speech became quite graceful. In our imaginations, we just knew we were destined for the finer things in life.
Here I am nearly 30 years later, rich indeed. I don't wear silk scarves and white gloves. And I only don a hat to warm my ears or cover a bad hair day. But I posses more than my childish dreams would ever have allowed.
I am rich with love that comes from a paycheck of hugs and kisses, date nights, "I love you Mommy," bedtime prayers, a back massage, birthday parties, sleepovers, family meals, and a plethora of ordinary nothings that become somethings when shared with a precious gift called family.
I am rich with blessings from a Heavenly Father who extends His unlimited grace and mercy to me and loves me enough to call me His own.
I am a Rich Lady.

For not knowing how to blog - you are GOOD!! I was totally encouraged by your post - thank you!
Thank you, Katie, for this trip down memory lane! My sisters & brother & I used to play "dress up" in my grandparents basement. We spent hours donning old felt hats with feathers and bows -- draping ourselves with brightly patterned silk scarves, our toes swimming in high heeled shoes many sizes too big!
Your blog brings a smile to my lips as I remember those pleasant afternoons! We didn't call it playing "Rich Ladies," but how right you are! We are rich, indeed! Proverbs 10:22
